Four women win parliamentary seats for the first time in the history of Kuwait

Per Khaleej Times, four women have won parliamentary seats in Kuwait for the first time in the state’s history.

Kuwaiti women were first granted the right to vote and run for office in 2005, but had been unsuccessful in their first two attempts in the 2006 and 2008 elections.

Amongst the four women were economist Rola Dashti and Kuwait’s first woman minister, Massouma al-Mubarak.
