Per CNN, federal investigators raided the Caracas home of Guillermo Zuloaga Thursday evening. Zuloaga is the president of Globovision, a major television network known for opposing the government’s policies. According to the article, broadcasts of the raid were delayed because it coincided with President Hugo Chavez’s televised announcement of his plans to nationalize Venezuela’s iron and steel industries.

Police said that 24 vehicles were found on Zuloaga’s property, and that the search was part of an investigation on illegal car smuggling, per CNN. Zuloaga responded that the vehicles were legitimately acquired, per Globalvision.

The raid follows an investigation of Globovision initiated by Chavez to permanently or temporarily shut the station down, per the New York Times.
