Germany celebrates re-election of president, 60-year milestone

Per AFP, huge crowds in Berlin today celebrated the re-election of its president Horst Köhler and 60 years since the signing of Germany’s constitution, which has laid the groundwork for a democratic and peaceful nation since. While the German presidency is largely symbolic, the result should prove to be a boost for Chancellor Angela Merkel in her hopes to be re-elected in September, per AFP.
