British Parliament scandal forces more officials to quit

Per BBC, Julie Kirkbride and Margaret Moran have declared they will not seek re-election and stand down from their positions in Parliament.

The two Members of Parliament made this announcement on Thursday after over 50 members of the British parliament were found spending tax-payer money for personal items and services. Some of the amounts spent were in excess of £50,000, according to BBC.

As of today over 12 members of British Parliament said they will not continue to seek re-election, including Speaker Michael Martin, and more are expected to resign, per the article.

felix_cohen (Bath, England) Thinking about starting a petition to stop MPs being addressed as Honourable unless they actually, you know, start behaving honourably
  3. Richard Chiswell
rchiswell @girlonetrack (Harrow, UK) Ah – but those MPs aren’t qutting until next election:when they’ll be eligble for a “golden handshake” of a years salary:£64k!
  4. Dominic Haney
libdom (Hull, England) If any more MPs announce they’re standing down we could stick them all on a conveyor belt and play a new version of The Generation Game.
  5. Brendan Martin
brenmar (London, UK) is wondering why MPs, such as Julie Kirkbride, brazen it out until someone wises them up overnight. They still don’t get it.
  6. PaulHulbert
PaulHulbert (Yate, Bristol, UK) Is that 3 MPs going today? I can’t keep count any more. Kirkbride, Moran, and apparently now Fraser.

I have tried to get an official answer to this question without any answer.
Why have the Cleveland Police Force, (Teesside, UK), been told not to arrest burglars for a first offence.
Is this done to try to fool people into believing crime is less because crime figures are lower?
