BNP seat causes stir on Twitter

Per BBC, the controversial British National Party (BNP) secured its first seat in the European Parliament after receiving 10 percent of the vote in Yorkshire and Humber during elections on Sunday.

Per its constitution, the BNP is “committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration” and seeks to restore the “overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948.”

An evaluation of tweets from the United Kingdom showed that most Brits were not happy with the result, and a flurry of comments helped “BNP” jump to No. 1 on Twitter Trends.

Tweets in London expressed outrage in no uncertain terms.

  1. Michelle Thorpe
sea_princess (London, U.K.) its a very sad day when the BNP win a seat. Fascist parties always seem to do well in times of recession. Really scary.
  2. rudids
rudids (London, U.K.) How sad that in a year when racism seemed to be dying a deserved death the BNP is gaining in strength. WTF? Are people voting whilst drunk?
  3. Niall
hoosay (London, U.K.) @juliansimpson 120,000? The BNP vote is currently just short of 500,000 nationally, that’s a lot of retards. #eu09
  4. Sylvia Morrison
SyDyMo (London, U.K.) Can not believe the BNP have won a seat in the European Parliament! What is wrong with people???Did only extremists go to vote???
  5. Rose Bishop
rosefromearth (London, U.K.) My head still aches, but I am somehow managing to rant about politics. Whoever you BNP voters are, you’d best stay far away from me.
  6. Jamie Sport
JamieSport (London, U.K.) Lost a follower. Perhaps I should stop using the word [expletive] to describe the BNP. Actually nah, they’re a big bunch of [expletive].

Twitterers in Northern England had their own opinions on the result:

  1. Emma Raywoo
emmar0 (Yorkshire, U.K.) is still unsure of twitter.
is glad she voted so can have no guilt about the BNP getting a seat in her zone…
  2. Stuart Grimshaw
Stubbs (Sheffield, U.K.) Apathy elected the BNP. If you’re from Yorkshire and Humber and didn’t vote the blame lies with you as much as a BNP voter. (via @arepeejee)
  3. McGritty
McGritty (Manchester, U.K.) Have I just heard right? Have the BNP got a seat in Yorkshire and humberside? I’m [expletive] disgusted. And I’ve lived there :(

Some were concerned that the BNP was getting so much attention in the media and on Twitter.

  1. Pádraig
padraigk (York, U.K.) @BBC_HaveYourSay Why are you giving time to the BNP on air but not to elected MEPs from other parties? Less attention to extremists please.
  2. Lianne de Mello
liannedemello (Nottingham, London, U.K.) Maybe we should stop talking about the BNP/Nick Griffin/Yorkshire, and giving them the undue attention they so desperately seek?
  3. Nick Tonge
KinkyFro (Manchester, U.K.) The BNP trending so high isn’t very good. Any promotion is good for them.

The only people that are angered are the illegal immigrants, commies, lefties, socialists, Islamofascists and their British enablers, panderers and appeasers. This seems to be the beginning of a European backlash and 'counterrevolution' against the white European cowards who would surrender Europe to the IslamoNazis without a fight.
  • Thank the Lord that real patriots are waking up to reality and voting for the wonderful and brilliant Mr Griffin!

Especially since ex-Home Secretary Jacqui Smith 'resigned', the one who banned a conservative radio talk-show host, author, Ph.d, #3 radio personality (8-10 million listeners a week) and who was awarded a "freedom of speech" award. I'm talking about Michael Savage, the American who has obtained British solicitors to sue 'crazy' Jacqui Smith who added Savage on the banned-from-Britain list as an appeasement to the Muslims who are taking over the formerly 'Great' Britain.
