Pirate Party successfully joins EU Parliament

Per TorrentFreak, the Pirate Party — a Swedish political party concerned with copyright reform — has carried more than 7% of the vote in European Parliament elections and will hold at least one of Sweden’s 18 parliamentary seats.

Among tweets Sunday, which mostly consisted of pirate-speak plays on words, were expressions of pride in Sweden’s copyright reform movement, which many say has been galvanized by the highly publicized Pirate Bay trial.
