First swine flu death recorded in Australia

Per The Courier-Mail, a West Australia man suffering from swine flu has died. He was 26 years old. The man was also suffering from other conditions, and it is not yet confirmed that swine flu was the primary cause of death.

The news added to a growing hysteria in Australia about the H1N1 virus. Aussie Twitterers had mixed reaction, but most were concerned about the development:

    considering he was suffering from other conditions, swine flu may not have been the main cause but meanly increased his chance of dieing. The same as normal flu would or pnuemonia. i dont think there is any reason to panic or worry yet.

    ITs a bit of media hype I think, Normal flu kills 500 000 world wide each year, swine flu wont come close if so how come normal flu isnt listed as level 6 , by the WHO,? why?
