Rafsanjani takes stand, refuses to lead Friday Prayers

Per The Huffington Post, Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani has declined to lead this week’s Friday Prayers in Tehran. This is the second time Rafsanjani has done this since the Iran election.

Rafsanjani, 75, served as President of Iran from 1989 to 1997 and was a key member of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, per Biography.com. The influential politician and cleric has been mostly quiet during the ongoing election dispute.
