Clashes renew in streets of Tehran

Per The Daily Dish, clashes have renewed in Iran according to a reliable Twitterer. Tweets suggest that there are incidents occurring at numerous locations across Tehran on Thursday, including Vali Asr Square, Vanak Square, Karegar Shomali Street (near Enghlab Square), and Tehran University. There have also clashes reported at Dravzeh Shiraz Square in Isfehan.

Breaking Tweets can confirm that the Twitterer, a journalist, is reliable. It is not clear if he is in Iran or not at the present time; his identity will remain anonymous here as a precaution. Here are some of his tweets:

  • As someone who works in new media, has studied the subject and is a firm advocate of merits of Twitter - and a journalist - I'm telling you you've got this one wrong, Sullivan says his whole post was unconfirmed - you have no health warning. Your source - whom I've found on Twitter - is NOT reliable.

Your source, whom you say is a journalist a thus imply is impartial, is far from impartial. Her account profile says "dedicated twitter account mir hussein muasavi supporter". All of her tweets so far are pro-Mousavi, one of them is clearly a lie "basij are recruits from lebanon mostly as young as 16,their not iranian #iranelection" - The Basji, as has been reported in the mainstream press and accepted globally, are Iranians who formerly served in the Iranian military, the chances of her statement being true are small - especially seen as she is a clear Mousavi supporter. Also, Lebanon has no clear hand in this - unsurprisingly though, Hizbollah is based there, and Israel has a violent history with that country.

You're reporting her statements like they were reliable, they're not - get some journalistic standards and stop spreading rumour - I mean, c'mon guys, you don't even know WHERE your source is...

This type of shit would get you fired from any decent newsroom, just because it's new media doesn't mean you lower standards - and I wonder why it's so difficult getting older hacks on board the new media bandwagon, sites like this make it impossible.

Mark, Thanks for your comment. However, I stand by this report 100%.

These tweets are not from a female. They're not from someone who identifies himself as a Mousavi supporter. It is from a journalist. Period.

We did not provide the Twitter account name, so sorry for the confusion. But the source is good. He is a journalist.
