Palin divorce rumors not true, says Sarah Palin’s spokeswoman

A rampant rumor that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd Palin are planning to divorce is not true, according to Meghan Stapleton, Sarah Palin’s spokeswoman.

Stapleton posted a note on Palin’s Facebook page, titled “No Truth to Latest Rumors:”

Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing.

The rumor has been all over Twitter today, with dozens of Palin tweets per minute, and at one point it was trending. It was apparently started by an AlaskaReport article, which claimed to cite multiple sources in both Wasilla and Anchorage.

Sarah Palin has also been in the news today for not posting to her Twitter since resigning as governor. She has said previously that she will continue to tweet, though has not yet, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Despite the Palin spokeswoman denial about the divorce report, rumors continue on Twitter:

  • As I have been quoted above, I don't believe the rumors (yet), but it certainly is time that "AKGovSarahPalin" changed her handle to something more representative of her status in life. I'm thinking "QuitterOnTwitter" is pretty good.

    I do wish people wouldn't start crying that the sky is falling without having some more credible sources at hand. On the other hand, despicable as the National Enquirer is, they sure have popped some big bubbles in the political world, if you know what I mean, and I think you do.

    Tana, definitely agree with you that Sarah Palin needs to change her Twitter name....and soon. One has to wonder what she's been up to, and why she won't go on the record about this very rumor, but rather has her spokeswoman do so. She said she would tweet, where's she been?

    And I agree with you on the credible sources..even though, yes, you also make a legit point on National Enquirer. Thanks for the comment.

    Don't gossiping liars have anything better to do with their time? Sheesh. GET OVER IT ALREADY! Why keep coming up with more lies about Palin? Why keep shining a spotlight on her? Shine the spotlight elsewhere as in on OBAMA and his SOCIALIST AGENDA that he's trying to shove down all of our throats. CHANGE that you can certainly BELIEVE IN!
  • I am already on the record as not believing this rumor, though it might be founded.

    On the other hand, more relevant to Sarah Palin's place in history and her overriding ambition is this piece by Andrew Sullivan, hardly a Democrat (he voted for GWB in the previous election), who has exhaustively fact-checked each and every one of these HUGE lies she has told. Being that he is a journalist with integrity, not some mouther-offer hiding behind the cloak of anonymity (hi, Ace!), he has much to lose were any of his claims meritless.

    Read 'em and weep, "Ace." Just because Sarah (Quitter on Twitter) refutes something, it doesn't mean she's not lying. Andrew Sullivan is a world-respected politico (of whom I am no fan, though I respect his integrity and intelligence) who has indisputably hit 33 nails on the head.
