Talks of Google to buy Brightcove begin on Twitter

Mark Glaser, editor of the PBS MediaShift website, updated his Twitter (@mediatwit) around 11 a.m. today, announcing that Google was thinking of purchasing the Web video provider, Brightcove. According to Glaser, a “source with knowledge” relayed this information, stating that Google was in talks of buying Brightcove for $500 million to $700 million.

Wall Street Journal’s Eric Savitz picked up the story after Glaser’s tweet had gained international attention on Twitter.
