Atlanta floods prove fatal for some, cause school and road closings
The storms in the Southeast United States have hit Atlanta particularly hard with four confirmed dead and many more missing. The Atlanta Journal Constitution has reported that the Governor declared a state of emergency in 17 counties.
Plenty of damage has already been done as there were a reported 11,000 people without power as of this afternoon and many schools in the metro Atlanta area will be closed tomorrow.
Twitterers have been reacting to the storms with prayers and stories of their own from being caught in the floods, while some seem to be unaware of the severity of the flooding:

This is quite some rain. I believe the death toll has risen to five here in Georgia. I didn't even realize how serious is was until I started driving to work, only to find out after 10 minutes of driving that the police had closed the road due to the flood. I also didn't have power for most of my morning yesterday.
Oh my goodness………… Oingur prayers are with all who are experiencing this terrible disaster. I am, however, a girl scout leader bring a troop to Savannah THIS Thursday, and since I don't know the area, can you tell me if the flooding is causing any problems in Savannah? Thanks very much!
