An explosion took place at a restaurant in Beijing, China on Friday morning at approximately 9 a.m. local time, according to Xinhua News and multiple Twitter users. Witnesses say there were injuries.

It did not take long for the first tweets about the explosion, speculations about the cause, and other reports relayed via Twitter users in Beijing.
