According to CNN, 17 people have been killed and hundreds left injured in Samoa following a magnitude 8.0 earthquake. Reuters is reporting the earthquakes have may have killed as many as 100 people.

American Samoa Gov. Togiola Tulafono told CNN international “two or three villages have been damaged badly.”

It was mostly the villages in the back...Pago and Fagatogo were hit really bad and also Leone. But the villiges in the hills were fortunate not to get hit. Families have said that Nuuuli on down to iliili are ok but Vailoa on down to Leone are bad..hope this helps.
  • Leone & Pago Pago/surrounding areas were hit the hardest.

Please help these people connect to thier famlies and friends. Help them communicate - to let each other know if they are OK or NOT. Set up a friends and family twitter board, if there is such a thing. I am new to twitter so if someone knows how, please do it. Wishing for the best for all there.

http://www.SamoaNow.org was just set up as a place to connect people with friends/family of Samoa. Hopefully people can use it in such a way to let their loved ones know they are okay, or to let people know they are looking for loved ones.

Prayers and thoughts go out to all those effected directly and indirectly by the Tsunami's and earthquakes.
