According to Independent Online, the death toll in boat accidents in two Indian states has risen to 97.

A boat capsized in Thekkady Lake at the Periyar forest reserve in the southern state of Kerala on Wednesday evening, killing 39 people, including 13 children. Another boat tragedy took place in Bihar, a state in eastern India, per Independent Online.

Eyewitnesses say that the Kerala tragedy occurred when the boat ‘Jalakanyaka’ tilted after several tourists moved to one side on sighting elephants in the Wildlife Sanctuary on the banks of the lake. The search for the number of missing persons still continues.
