(@Naveennaqvi)
I had the opportunity to have a live TweetChat with leading Pakistani journalist Naveen Naqvi.
Naveen Naqvi is a senior anchor at DawnNews and presents the morning news programme, Breakfast at Dawn. She lives in Karachi, Pakistan.
She also contributes to The Huffington Post. Naqvi was raised in Saudi Arabia and was an actress in Pakistan before becoming a journalist.
Here are the tweets from our TweetChat.
fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi Hey are you free right now can we do the tweetchat for breakingtweets naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi sure. sounds good. fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi awesome, so first off I want to say I think its great how you tweet live on air, how has tweeting helped you on air? naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi Thx! Tweeting live on BAD has given me direct access to viewers & smart people with strong opinions. It’s most exciting! fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi Alot of critics argue that Twitter is just another technology that will go away soon what are your thoughts on this.. naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi Well, it’s true that the way its popularity’s skyrocketed is unprecedented but for now it’s a phenomenon. And FB’s still around fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi Do you feel that tweeting live on air gives you a better connection with your viewers, since you can communicate with them naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi Absolutely. Also, I learn from them. I see a story in different ways bec of the different opinions I get. And it’s all live! fahadzuberi very true, I also read that you write for the Huffington Post, and they are pretty active on Twitter, how has that experience been for you? naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi I have written for HuffPo and have enjoyed it. It’s a completely different style from Dawn for eg where I’m a regular. fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi We all know that the situation in Pakistan is very unstable do you see the situation improving any time soon. naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi I think Pakistan and its people have shown their resilience time and again. I’m optimistic. What other way is there to be? fahadzuberi Does the Kerry Lugar bill sound like a good deal for Pakistan? naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi The crucial question is how the money is spent. Transparency and accountability are essential. naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi I feel the money should be spent right..toward roads, education, health, economic development. That’s the promise. Sounds good. fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi so you feel if the money is given in the right hands it is a good deal. fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi Will Twitter help you when news of a bomb blast in Pakistan is breaking, or have you already used it for something like that. naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi I’ve seen it used very well in emergencies like the Khi rain. It was amazing how tweeps were giving updates on what roads > fahadzuberi @naveenaqvi One final question for how long have you used Twitter and, just by looking at your followers i can tell its been great for you naveenaqvi @fahadzuberi I’ve been active on Twitter since I saw how it was used in Iran after the elections, and I haven’t looked back.
