Vatican opens arms to Anglicans wishing to join Catholic Church

Pope Benedict XVI announced today that there will be room for Anglicans within the Catholic Church.

Due to a recent high volume of Anglicans requests to be part of the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI says that they will still be able to keep Anglican rites but will be able to call the Pope their leader.

CNN reports that many of the requests to join the Catholic Church have come after women and openly homosexual partnerships have been welcomed within the Anglican Church.

Numerous people across the United States respond to the news:

As an Anglican I have no desire to join the catholic church, b/c of fundamental differences in our belief systems. But I'm still glad that someone is standing behind us as being right on these issues of the authority of scripture and the diety of Christ. (Yes, that's what the split is REALLY about.)
