T-Mobile becomes trending topic again as service goes down

T-Mobile is once again having problems with their service and Twitter users aren’t going to let them forget about it.

About a month ago, there were severe problems with data retrieval and their popular phone, the Sidekick. The hashtag #TMobileFail became a Twitter trending topic during the week of these problems. People were outraged with the lack of information the company was giving back to their customers.

Once again, T-Mobile users are having difficulties with their service.

PCMag.com reports on the issue, saying that T-Mobile has confirmed service outages all over the country. They also discuss the masses of outraged people who have taken to their Twitter:

Protesters gather in Freedom Plaza to rally against gay marriage

Protesters joined together at Freedom Place in Washington D.C. on Sunday to voice their opposition to gay marriage.

150 people were present to demonstrate their opinions on whether or not Washington D.C. should. legalize gay marriage. Many of the people were bused in earlier from various churches from the area. The mayor and council men’s office is across the street from Freedom Plaza and these protesters hoped that they could be heard, especially in light of the issue being addressed by the committee Monday.

The Washington Post reports that the protesters wanted their voices to be taken seriously. Many of them were heard chanting, “Let the people vote!”.

Vatican opens arms to Anglicans wishing to join Catholic Church

Pope Benedict XVI announced today that there will be room for Anglicans within the Catholic Church.

Due to a recent high volume of Anglicans requests to be part of the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI says that they will still be able to keep Anglican rites but will be able to call the Pope their leader.

CNN reports that many of the requests to join the Catholic Church have come after women and openly homosexual partnerships have been welcomed within the Anglican Church.

China skeptical of Dalai Lama’s plans to visit India

The Dalai Lama is planning a visit to Arunachal Pradesh, India next month. While India has said they are not worried about this causing conflict with China, it has been made public that many Chinese do not like the presence of Dalai Lama in India.

His upcoming visit has become controversial due to a border dispute. Phayul.com reports, “India has reaffirmed the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s right to visit its disputed border region with China in the face of objections from Beijing, a media report said Saturday.” The Dalai Lama hasn’t visited the state since 2003.

The Hindu also reported on the upcoming event, making note that this is a trip that supports him as a spiritual figure.

Bruce Wasserstein death overshadowed on Twitter by Captain Lou death

Bruce Wasserstein died today at the age of 61. After being hospitalized on Sunday for an irregular heartbeat, news broke today of his death.

Most well-known as CEO of Lazard Ltd., many were sad to see such a prominent figure on Wall Street to pass away.

Business Insider reported, “Wasserstein was a Wall Street legend. He was the driving force behind many of America’s largest takeovers in the 1980s and 1990s”.

While many have recognized the tragedy of Wasserstein, the death of Captain Lou, WWF and Cyndi Lauper music video star, has gained more recognition on Twitter. Captain Lou Albano died today at 76., NY Daily News reports.

Not long after the announcement of Captain Lou’s death, his name became a trending topic.

Inter-religion couples attacked in Israel

NPR recently reported how vigilante Jewish men in Israel are attempting to break up relationships and dates between Jewish women and Arab men.

The report describes a man named “David”, who has asked to have his name changed. In this report, David describes how upsetting it is to see a Jewish woman with an Arab man and the steps he takes in order to stop it. David says that vigilantes have not and will not use physical force with the women.

NPR quotes David: “(Through translator) Using physical force with the girls won’t work. Our goal is to talk to the girls and to convince them that their place is with the Jewish nation, not with our enemies. There are four girls that we have intervened with and saved since we started. Even if we rescued only one girl, we have done our part. We have done a good deed, and we thank God for it”.

Meditation, yoga become part of everyday life for inmates

Eastern religions are not only popular among celebrities and twenty-somethings anymore, some inmates who have been sentenced to a life in prison have turned to meditation as a source of comfort and understanding.

CNN reports about a man named Kenneth Brown who lost his entire life when he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for an arson charge. Brown looked to Buddhist practices, meditation and yoga in order to find peace in an imprisoned life. These practices have been gaining popularity all over the United States, especially, most recently, in prisons.

CNN notes, “Meditation can help the convicts find calmness in a prison culture ripe with violence and chaos. The practice provides them a chance to reflect on their crimes, wrestle through feelings of guilt and transform themselves during their rehabilitative journey”, Buddhist experts say.”

Evangelicals voice support for immigration reform

The National Association of Evangelicals has voiced its opinion on immigration reform. As immigrants have become a large part of the population at the Evangelical Church, a strong agreement has become clear that there needs to be something done about the existing immigration laws.

The NAE also feels strongly that these reforms that they are asking for go hand in hand with declarations in the Bible. Christianity Today reported that president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, stated: “At the end of the day, immigration reform is an issue of justice firmly grounded on biblical truth”. He was happy to hear the that the NAE was fighting for such an important issue.

Google Street View now available for select Canadian cities

Google Street View is a popular feature on Google that allows people to see high resolution images of streets. This feature has already been made available in the United States, Spain, U.K., Australia and additional countries. This feature allows a person to do a 360 degree view of streets in these select cities and countries.

After filming eleven cities in Canada, this feature has finally been made available to the people. Google Street view is now available to Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax, Vancouver, Squamish, B.C., Whistler, B.C., Ottawa, Kitchener, Ont., and Waterloo, Ont.

CBC News in Canada reported on the story and discusses some of the privacy issues surrounding the feature.

Sidekick and T-Mobile users infuriated by blackout over weekend

As early as Friday morning, Sidekick users were looking to the message boards of both T-Mobile and Hiptop (official website for developer of the Sidekick) for answers as to why they were not able to access the data on their phone.

Many angered customers were reporting that they were not able to access e-mail, internet, Facebook, and MySpace. They were, reported Yahoo Tech, able to receive and make calls and use SMS.

Today, the problem has still not been fixed. People have begun voicing their outrage, discussing how inconvenient this blackout has been, especially for those who use their phone to work. There have been complaints about T-Mobile’s lack of customer service and information that has been made available to their users.

Many people have turned to Twitter to voice their outrage with this service and hope that they can somehow be compensated for this inconvenience. The hashtag #tmobilesucks has become a Trending Topic on Twitter:
