T-Mobile becomes trending topic again as service goes down

T-Mobile is once again having problems with their service and Twitter users aren’t going to let them forget about it.

About a month ago, there were severe problems with data retrieval and their popular phone, the Sidekick. The hashtag #TMobileFail became a Twitter trending topic during the week of these problems. People were outraged with the lack of information the company was giving back to their customers.

Once again, T-Mobile users are having difficulties with their service.

PCMag.com reports on the issue, saying that T-Mobile has confirmed service outages all over the country. They also discuss the masses of outraged people who have taken to their Twitter:

iDon’t: Verizon smartphone “DroidDoes” ads bash iPhone

The No. 1 U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless has come out with online and video ads announcing an Oct. 30 release date for the new Android 2.0 powered Motorola Droid phone. The ads target the iPhone by saying everything that “iDon’t” the “DroidDoes”.

According to PCMAG, some of the Droid features announced on Verizon’s Web site include 5-megapixel camera, a real QWERTY slideout keyboard, and open development. Some are calling Google’s 2.0 Android Smartphone OS, the “iPhone killer“, while others believe Apple’s iPhone will remain at the top.

Most Twitter users are buzzing about the new Droid ad campaign with great anticipation and agree with TechCrunch when they say that the “Droid is the real deal.”

EA releases Rock Band app for iPhone

According to a TechCrunch article, Electronic Arts has officially announced the release of the new Rock Band App for the iPhone and iPod Touch, just two days after releasing a teaser trailer of the game.

The App, available for $9.99, features a multi-player mode which allows up to 4 people to play together via Bluetooth. It also features 20 songs by various artists, as well as a Facebook utility giving players the option to invite friends to rock out via the social networking site.

Many Twitter users are sharing their excitement about this much anticipated release.

#PepsiFail: Twitter users slam iPhone app “AMP UP Before You Score”

Pepsi has recently released an iPhone app called “AMP UP Before Your Score” that is meant to help men “score” with women. According to the iTunes Store description the app works by categorizing women into 24 types. Each type has a profile including “a cheatsheet on the stuff she’s into, with lists, links and some surefire opening lines.”

After “scoring” with a woman, users can add her to a Brag List where “you can include a name, date and whatever details you remember.” Users can even share their Brag List on Twitter and Facebook.

Here is a YouTube demonstration of how to use the app.

Hundreds of Twitterers voiced their disapproval, some even saying the company should pull the Pepsi app.

T-Mobile and Danger users lose data which may not be recovered

T-Mobile experienced another glitch this weekend that caused some Sidekick users to lose all of their data, with the possibility of it not being recovered.

The New York Times reported that employees at T-Mobile have been working to fix these issues, but many have already lost all contact and calendar data. This happened for those Sidekick users whose batteries were either removed or ran out.

Twitterers are reacting with frustration to the glitch with T-Mobile:

AT&T announces VOIP services on its 3G network, Apple and Skype “applaud”

AT&T announced Tuesday that it has taken the “steps necessary” to offer iPhone users Voice Over Internet Protocol to its 3G network so that features like Skype may be used.

9to5mac.com had reactions from an Apple spokeswoman and Skype President Josh Silverman. Both parties said they are pleased with the decision. Skype was added as an application to the iPhone a year ago but can only run on the phone with Wi-Fi access.

Some Twitterers were skeptical about the move and why Google Voice was stopped short of joining the service:

Adobe announces Flash for iPhones

It was announced today at the annual Adobe MAX event that Flash applications will now be available for use and development on iPhones – something that up until now was unheard of.

By 2010, Adobe also hopes to have Flash Player 10.1 technology available on all smartphones. Right now, a version much lower in size and quality is used on smartphones to view videos. The new software is said to work as well on a smartphone as a PC.

“Flash player 10.1 will be smartphone enabled, early 2010 with multitouch and mobile device optimization.” @aquarious (undisclosed)

Though Flash apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch platforms were revealed today, it’s uncertain whether or not Apple will be in compliance with this full Flash software that is already backed by companies such as Nokia and Google.

Some Twitter users are excited to try out these new Flash apps on iPhones, and look forward to viewing Flash websites on other smartphones in 2010.

Sidekick and T-Mobile users infuriated by blackout over weekend

As early as Friday morning, Sidekick users were looking to the message boards of both T-Mobile and Hiptop (official website for developer of the Sidekick) for answers as to why they were not able to access the data on their phone.

Many angered customers were reporting that they were not able to access e-mail, internet, Facebook, and MySpace. They were, reported Yahoo Tech, able to receive and make calls and use SMS.

Today, the problem has still not been fixed. People have begun voicing their outrage, discussing how inconvenient this blackout has been, especially for those who use their phone to work. There have been complaints about T-Mobile’s lack of customer service and information that has been made available to their users.

Many people have turned to Twitter to voice their outrage with this service and hope that they can somehow be compensated for this inconvenience. The hashtag #tmobilesucks has become a Trending Topic on Twitter:

Per cbcnews.com, Bell Canada says it will charge its cell phone customers 15 cents per SMS Twitter update. The charges will apply to all customers including those with unlimited text messaging.

“Because Twitter is a third-party service, the messages are considered premium and not covered by our plans. This aligns with industry standards regarding third-party premium messaging,” said Bell spokeswoman Julie Smithers, as reported by CBCNews.
