The CW Reveals Fall Plans

The CW announced their fall 2009 schedule today sending flashbacks across the airwaves.   “90210″ and “Melrose Place” will air back-to-back from 8-10 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, according to EW.com, just like the originals series’ did on Wednesdays in 1992.

The Twitterverse shared mixed feelings about the new pairing:

HOEMART Melrose Place and 90210 next year….I am too excited!
  2. Ali
HabitatAli The new CW schedule will feature 90210 and Melrose Place back to back…what year is this?
  3. Joseph A. Kapsch
latzapjoseph love that CW programmed Melrose Place 2.0 after 90210. Monday GG and Tuesday road block.
  4. CW27 dotCOM
CW27dotCOM Tuesday line up is 90210 and melrose place!
  5. El Jefe
tole_cover Wait, I haven’t seen “Melrose Place” placed next to “90210″ in YEARS. The CW never fails to surprise (and disappoint).
  6. Anthony Capps
Amadeus3000 “90210″ and a new “Melrose Place” will be on the same night this fall… deja vu?

The network also announced other new programs including “The Vampire Diaries,” which will cater to the “Twilight” audience, and “Beautiful Life,” which will air alongside “America’s Next Top Model.” Missing from the line-up?  The proposed “Gossip Girl” spin-off that aired as part of the regular show earlier this month.

Based on Twitter responses, it seems The CW might gain and lose a few viewers.

kellyness Gotta hand it to the CW. They always manage to find beautiful people to fill up their seasonal teen angst quota. > Beautiful Life & Melrose.
  2. Shannon
autumneffect I am extremely excited about the fact that there is a TV series being made about L. J. Smith’s Vampire Diaries. Sweet!
  3. Osirri
Osirri I am not sure I like the idea of the Vampire Diaries being made into a TV series. http://bit.ly/gaLYS
  4. Renata Espinosa
toshamarquee Disappointed that CW chose not to spin-off Gossip Girl with ’80s LA prequel. Preppy Handbook-meets-Less Than Zero, how is that not a winner?
