A downloadable desktop application from Hulu launched on Thursday.  Accordng to PC Magazine, Hulu Desktop, compatible for Windows or Mac, provides access to full-length TV shows and movies via the computer.  The system can be controlled with a mouse, keyboard, or PC/Apple computer remote.

The company wrote in a blog post, “Hulu Desktop was built by a small group on our engineering team who asked themselves one day: how can we make it easier for users to immerse themselves in the great shows and movies Hulu is fortunate to have access to?”

Since its debut in March 2008, Hulu formed partnerships with networks including NBC and News Corp to provide television content to internet users.  In April of this year, ABC also jumped on board, according to a past PC Magazine article, providing shows like “Lost,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

But some aren’t having a positive experience:

   Dr_Flambe hulu desktop seems a bit premature, lots of slowdowns, beach balls of death.

   trmb Hulu desktop seems to have some buffering problems.

   pacoallen Yeah, after 15 minutes with hulu desktop I can say it looks nice but has a TON of UI issues. And they serve more ads. If it ain’t broke …

   rubyist hulu desktop forces you to upgrade, then crashes on launch when you do. nice
