Britney Spears Sued by Paparazzo

As hard as she’s trying to move on, Britney Spears’s past is catching up with her.  According to E! Online, Spears is being sued by a paparazzo for driving over his foot with her Mercedes on October 18, 2007.

The incident–which occurred just a few hours after Spears lost custody of her children and months before she was hospitalized–was caught on tape, and though the pap didn’t press charges, he now filed a lawsuit claiming negligence as well as assault and battery.

The photog was working for gossip Web site TMZ at the time.  The site is reporting that the lawsuit also names Spears’ “people” and claims they “should have known…Britney was not in the mental, emotional and/or physical condition to operate the subject motor vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner.”

Britney fans on Twitter were surprised and disgusted by the development:
