Variety.com is reporting that eight new projects are being developed for possible MTV shows.  Among them:

• A Jamie Foxx-created sketch comedy show inspired by the 1990’s Fox hit “In Living Color.”

• A reality show, featuring Audrina Patridge, has yet to be titled.

• A team of superheros will be the subject of “The Awesomes,” with SNL’s head writer Seth Meyers and producer Lorne Michaels overseeing the show.

• A coming-of-age show, which “essentially spins HBO’s “Hung” by giving a certain anatomical gift to an unpopular 15-year-old,”  and

• Under consideration is an adaptation of the 80’s movie “Teen Wolf.

But along with these new projects, MTV has laid off nearly 80 employees, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“It was not done for financial reasons, it was purely creative — an overhaul of the organization to better meet the creative needs of MTV,” MTV President of Programming Tony DiSanto said.
