Vibe Magazine Shutting Down

Per NYTimes.com, popular hip-hop music magazine Vibe is folding. The magazine reportedly struggled for months before ultimately closing yesterday. Chief of Vibe Media Group Steve Aaron said that the magazine’s top ten advertisers recently went out of business so their main advertising categories in the magazine suffered and therefore so did their profit.

As the company announced in February, circulation was supposed to be cut from 800,000 to 600,000 by July, but in the end, the plan wasn’t feasible.  A spokeswoman for Vibe said she didn’t know how many people would be left without a job as a result of the closure.
