“American Idol” judge Paula Abdul is set to make a guest appearance on Lifetime’s new original series “Drop Dead Diva,” PEOPLE.com reports. The show, which premieres July 12, is a legal dramedy about a vain model who suddenly dies and is reborn a brainy, plus-size attorney played by Broadway’s Brooke Elliott.

Abdul will be playing a judge on an episode airing in September. “I am very excited to guest star on ‘Drop Dead Diva,’” she said.  “All of the people are extremely talented and it’s a charming, wonderfully written new show,” she added.

Other planned guest stars include Rosie O’Donnell, Tim Gunn, and fellow Broadway star Liza Minnelli, who will play a psychic who takes her sister, portrayed by Delta Burke, to court.
