Kal Penn, who left his role on the medical drama “House” to work with the Obama Administration, had his first day of work at the White House yesterday, according to the Washington Post.

Penn, who rose to fame after his role in “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle,” is the new associate director of the Office of Public Engagement.

During a conference call with the media, he requested to be referred to by his real name, Kalpen Modi, and said he expected to be “treated like any other staffer,” according to the article.

Tweeters around the country are buzzing about Penn’s new job, and Twitterers in the D.C. area are hoping for a run in with the former actor.
