HBO To Develop TV Series Based On “Middlesex”

Jeffrey Eugenides’ Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Middlesex” has been optioned by HBO, who will turn the book into a one-hour drama series, according to Broadcasting & Cable.

Actor/producer Rita Wilson and playwright Donald Margulies will executive produce. Margulies won a Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for his play “Dinner With Friends,” which was made into an HBO television film.

HBO’s synopsis of the drama series says it “follows the life of Calliope Stephanides and the epic family history that may hold the answer to her complicated sexual identity.”
