After much anticipation and speculation, Sony’s “Smurfs” project is finally moving ahead, reports Variety.com.  Along with the announcement of director Raja Gosnell (”Beverly Hills Chihuahua)” joining the project, Sony says the live-action/animated movie will be in theaters in both 2-D and 3-D December 17, 2010.
