The late actor Heath Ledger’s fight for fair animal treatment lives on through an animated video directed by the actor himself, according to EW.com.

The video, created for the Modest Mouse song “King Rat,” animates Ledger’s opposition to whale hunting off the coast of Australia by showing humans being hunted by whales.

Ledger and Modest Mouse lead singer Issak Brock developed the video after Ledger came to Brock with the idea in January of 2007. Brock says that the video was unfinished upon Ledger’s sudden death in Jan. of 2008, but had been eniterely planned out.

THE MASSES, a company in which Ledger was a partner, decided to finish the video in honor of him, and will release it on iTunes on Aug. 7.
