Woodstock Anniversary Show Canceled

According to Entertainment Weekly, event promoter Michael Lang has abandoned plans to hold a concert that would mark the 40th anniversary of Woodstock.  Lang had hoped to organize the event for September, but a lack of sponsors forced him to cancel the show.

Despite the concert cancellation, the 40th anniversary of Woodstock will still be remembered.  Director Ang Lee will release his new movie “Taking Woodstock” on August 28, and there will also be several commemorative music releases, including a six-CD “Woodstock: 40 Years On” box set.  VH1 is also airing “Woodstock: Now and Then” next week.
