“St Elmo’s Fire” Headed to the Small Screen

The next-generation “Brat Pack” is in the making – if ABC has anything to say about.

According to THR.com, the network has landed a deal to create an hour-long television series based on the 1985 movie, “St. Elmo’s Fire,” which starred several original ”Brat Pack” members, including Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Mare Winningham. 

The series, set to be produced by filmmaker Joel Schumacher and Topher Grace of “That 70’s Show,” will use the movie as a takeoff point to introduce six new friends: three boys and three girls. 

“It’s the feeling of that time in your life when everything is possible but you can’t figure out how to make it possible,” Grace said.

Fans of the original brat pack are not on board:

    ooo def not!!!! i dont understand why everything that was unbelievably amazing as an original has to be re-made into something for a newer generation so to speak. it is a cult classic for a reason, along with breakfast club and others. you can't make anything better than it already is!!!!
