“Time Traveler’s Wife” Coming to Small Screen

If the movie wasn’t enough for “Time Traveler’s Wife” fans, they are in luck. According to thewrap.com, the novel is also being adapted into a TV show for ABC.

The creator of “Friends,” Marta Kauffman, will act as writer and executive producer for the show in partnership with Warner Bros. Television and ABC, who has given the okay for the production of a pilot. ABC executives said believe they believe the multi-faceted plot–including a love story and self-contained storylines–will work well in series form.

The announcement comes after the movie, starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, opened third at the box office, makingĀ  approximately$20 million in its first three days. Interest in the TV show, however, reportedly started much before last week’s release of the movie.

Twitter fans of the movie and non-fans alike aren’t too pleased with the announcement:

teabelly1 The Time Traveler’s Wife made me cry. It’s a good adaptation of the book. Not perfect of course, but good. Still don’t want a TV series.
