Paula Abdul turned to Twitter once again on Tuesday to make a big announcement. While last time she told her followers she was quitting her “American Idol” job, this time she revealed she has a new gig as the host of “VH1 Divas,” a benefit concert for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

VH1 Divas is returning after a five-year hiatus, during which executive producer Lee Rolontz told The New York Daily News that in past years, “We got to a point where we exhausted our Divas list.” Now “there are fabulous young voices coming up in the industry… We just hit a whole generation.”  

Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus and Jordin Sparks are some of the up-and-coming singers who will lend their voices to support music education in American public schools.

Rolontz said viewers can expect Abdul to perform the show’s opening number when “VH1 Divas” airs September 17.
