“Reading Rainbow” Airs Final Show

According to NPR.org, the family-friendly PBS show “Reading Rainbow” aired its final episode today.

The article states that, though the show is still popular, PBS cannot afford the broadcast renewal fee they faced this year.  People directly involved with “Reading Rainbow,” however, claimed that the show was facing extinction in the current educational climate because it promotes reading, but not how to read.

“Rainbow” viewers are using Twitter to share their devotion to the show, as well as their sadness about its ending, landing it in Trending Topics for most of the day.
