“The Final Destination” Tops Box Office

Horror film “The Final Destination” ranked first at the box office this weekend, taking in $28.3 million, according to EW.com. The film marks continued interest in the 3-D format as 70 percent of the revenue came from 3-D theaters. “The Final Destination” is the fourth film in the “Final Destination” franchise.

Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” slipped to No. 2 this week, with $20 million. That’s a 47 percent decrease from its opening weekend.

Rob Zombie’s “Halloween II” opened at No. 3, with $17.4 million.  Science fiction film “District 9″ came in fourth, dropping from last week’s second place.

Twitter users shared their opinions on each film:

gamer_ghost Halloween 2 SUCKED. OMG Rob Zombie should never make another movie. Final Destination in 3D was Ok.
  2. Cypress Melissa
CipressaSATX Inglourious Basterds was a good movie – intense, dark, bloody, with a twisted sense of humour. A textbook Quentin Tarantino flick.
  3. DEBORAH SPARAGA
jadetiger68 Took kids to see Final Destination 3D. Was awesome. Movie itself was about average but the 3d effects were cool as hell.
  4. Allyn Spacek
ivyreb I enjoyed Inglourious Basterds, but not as much as friends & family. It was okay, but not as good as Kill Bill, in my opinion. Sorry.
  5. KIRSTY INNES

  8. Tommy Willis
The_Willster just went to see Final Destination 3D – THE WORST FILM OF ALL TIME – even that doesn’t do its awfulness justice!
  9. bill clawson
clawsonlfs @levarburton I too thought District 9 was phenomenal. It was, IMHO, what sci-fi is supposed to be.
  10. David B. Grelck
davidbgrelck District 9 was GREAT! Huge improvement over Halloween 2!
