Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, also know as The Magnificent Mile, was closed yesterday for the season premiere kick-off party of The Oprah Winfrey Show,” reports Chicago Breaking News.

Thousands of Chicagoans and others around the nation, along with international guests, gathered on the street to help the talk show host celebrate the upcoming premiere of the 24th season. The free event featured performances from the Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Hudson, James Taylor and magician Criss Angel.

Oprah and the party were both praised and criticized by tweeps:
