Kanye West Apologizes for Interrupting Taylor Swift at VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards are usually filled with memorable–and controversial–moments and last night’s was no exception. As Taylor Swift started to accept her award for Best Female Video (”You Belong With me”), Kanye West ran onstage, grabbed the mic, and said he believed Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” deserved the award. Swift looked shocked and saddened as the crowd booed.

Beyonce, who ended up taking home the top prize for Video fo the Year, gave her spotlight over to Swift so she could finish her acceptance speech.

West later apologized via his blog before the awards show even ended, according to EW.com. He called Swift “very talented” and said that he was “in the wrong.”

Related terms such as “Kanye,” “Taylor Swift” and “VMAs” have remained in Trending Topics for more than 12 hours. Most tweeters say West’s behavior towards Swift was rude, but a few backed the rapper, while others are wondering if it was a publicity stunt:
