Dan Brown and “Da Vinci Code” Sequel Set First Day Sales Record

Robert Langdon has slipped on his Harrison tweed jacket to solve another history-laced mystery and fans could not be more excited. Dan Brown, author of “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons,” released “The Lost Symbol” on Tuesday and watched as more than one million copies flew off the shelves in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. as fans eager to discover what happened to Langdon rushed to book stores.

According to EW.com, Carolyn Brown, spokeswoman for Barnes & Noble, said “No other adult fiction title even comes close.”  Additionally, the book was on the “Best Seller List” before the novel even hit stores. Brown’s publisher was prepared for the high demand and went “back to press immediately prior to release in order to print an additional 600,000 copies (bringing the total number to 5.6 million).”
