“Dancing With The Stars” Premiere Week Recap

An introduction to the new cast, a Patrick Swayze tribute, Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” video premiere, performances by Sean Kingston and “The Lion King” cast, plus a double elimination all took place during the three-day season premiere of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” reports EW.com.

The dance pros paid tribute to Swayze with a dance to “She’s Like the Wind,” followed by a dance interpretation of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze’s famous pottery scene in “Ghost.”  The segment concluded with a rendition of Swayze’s and Jennifer Grey’s final dance routine in “Dirty Dancing,” including the song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”

The first night of competition featured the men doing initial performances, plus salsa and waltz relays, while the second night featured the women and fox trot and cha cha relays.  Aaron Carter and pro Karina Smirnoff posted the highest scores of the men’s night while Joanna Krupa and pro Derek Hough had the highest score on the second night.  Ultimately, one male and one female were eliminated: actor Ashley Hamilton and singer Macy Gray.
