SNL’s Slate Drops Accidental F-bomb

Saturday night, new cast member Jenny Slate said something on “SNL” that hasn’t been said on the show in 28 years: the f-word.  In the sketch, Slate and Kristin Wiig play biker chicks, and scatter their sentences with “friggin’” and “freakin’.” Shortly into the skit, Slate slips up and says “and I f*ckin’ love you for that.” Producer Lorne Michaels was sympathetic towards Slate, saying that he understood her mistake. The last time the word was used on the show was in 1981, by a disgruntled Charles Rocket.

Most Twitter users weren’t offended by the slip-up:

  1. Chatty Cricket
chattycricket @LaineyGossip OMG, we recorded SNL and watched last night and thought the “incident” was HILARIOUS. Love her reaction when she realized.
  2. afrobella
afrobella haha CNN just aired that SNL flub… poor girl. I hope she gets another chance, SNL needs more female power
  3. Stacey
chantillynative Why is SNL getting so much press over some new girl dropping the F bomb on live TV? You could hardly tell she said it.
  4. Anatole Ashraf
blissfulmitch Please let Jenny Slate stay on SNL. She didn’t say anything people don’t naturally say, and I don’t think anyone’s offended really.
  5. Matthew Ross
TheMattRoss The SNL “f-bomb” story is brilliant PR. Totally distracting people from talking about how crappy and unfunny the Season Premiere was.
  6. Joseph Sebren
Cjoetweet Finally saw premeire of SNL last night and was not disappointed. I mean, dropping the “F” bomb on live tv?… Love moments like that!
  7. Mackie
BPMackie There was a time I would care if they dropped the F-Bomb on SNL…but I haven’t found SNL funny in a long time, the current cast blows.
  8. Darren Schwindaman
djschwin @elizabethcrisp I agree; that post about SNL was one of the most blatant attempts to manufacture a scandal I’ve ever seen!
  9. stella rogers-flores
smarifa They totally edited out the f-bomb moment on SNL’s west coast feed. It wasn’t even bleeped, it was totally taken out. Sad I missed it.
  10. Dan Sandler
Danielsand I think people need to relax about the SNL f-bomb. If kids that young were up that late at night, and watching SNL, i doubt it will do harm
