Before the start of the second game of the World Series at Yankee Stadium Thursday night, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed their song “Empire State of Mind,” MTV reports.

With a stage set up by second base and longtime fan Jay-Z decked out in Yankee gear, the duo earned loud applause as cameras panned to many spectators who were singing along.

John Legend sang the national anthem before the Yankees and Phillies took the field.

Several tweeps wondered if the performances invigorated the Yankees:
