Updated again on November 11: PEOPLE.com has the first interview Joe Perry has done since the rumors began and since Tyler unexpectedly performed with him and said he wasn’t leaving the band. According to Perry, Tyler is in fact leaving–for at least two years.

Updated on November 11: EW.com is reporting Tyler not only performed last night with Perry but announced on stage he’s “not leaving Aerosmith.”

Originally published on November 10: PEOPLE.com is reporting on rumors that Steven Tyler, the flamboyant lead singer for Aerosmith, might be leaving the band for good.

Rumors that Tyler is leaving the Boston-based band came after he told the magazine Classic Rock  he was pulling himself out of the group’s South American tour, supposedly because he either hurt himself after a fall during a Dubai concert or to focus on more his solo project, “Brand Tyler.”

While many fans were stunned to hear about he possible breakup, nobody was more shocked than lead guitarist Joe Perry who says he found out by reading it in the press. Perry took to his Twitter account to comment:
