American Idol finalist Adam Lambert’s performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday is part of an ongoing controversy. The act included Lambert kissing a male band member and simulating oral sex, among other things.

After receiving more than 1,500 complaints about Lambert’s racy performance, ABC, the network that aired the AMAs, pulled the singer from a scheduled appearance on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday.

ABC’s decision caused the hashtag #ShameOnYouABC to become a Trending Topic on Twitter as many fans cited homophobia and discrimination as a factor in the decision.

Instead, Lambert appeared and performed on “The Early Show” on CBS. During his interview, Lambert admitted that the controversial parts of his performance were not rehearsed and that he did “get carried away.”

Lambert’s performance has also caused the Parents Television Council to complain about ABC’s decision to air Lambert’s performance in the first place, even though it was edited for the West Coast feed.

Lambert, however, said he does not believe he needs to be held responsible for his actions. “I’m not a babysitter,” he said on “The Early Show.”
