In an effort to raise awareness about the global water crisis, celebrities like Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Lupe Fiasco are climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, according to PEOPLE.

Kenna, a Grammy-nominated singer, is leading the climb of 19,340 feet and also led the group through a village near Arusha, Tanzania, where they saw first-hand the effects of poor water availability. There are one billion people in the world without clean water.

The climbers are hoping to raise money for clean water programs. While solutions such as harvesting rain or watershed irrigation are already in effect, the goal of the climb is to use fame to bring more attention to the efforts.
