“American Idol” Hosts Atlanta Auditions, Introduces “Pants on the Ground”

On tonight’s episode of “American Idol,” Hollywood hopefuls from Atlanta performed for judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, Simon Cowell and guest judge Mary J. Blige. Atlanta brought plenty of talent to the table, as well as some memorable comical auditions.

The final performance of the show quickly became the number one trending topic on Twitter, with the Twitterverse singing in unison, “pants on the ground, pants on the ground,” an original tune by 62-year-old General Larry Platt.

Platt was obviously over the age limit for contestants so it wasn’t clear how he was able to audition but he clearly had an impact on both the judges and viewers.

And yet “Pants on the Ground” wasn’t the only “Idol” topic getting buzz on Twitter after the show. Plenty of tweeps had comments about guest host Mary J. Blige, who couldn’t control her laughter during many awkward auditions.
