Director James Cameron’s blockbuster film “Avatar” is nominated for a total of four Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Original Score and Best Original Song. Competing against “Avatar” for the coveted Best Picture award are “The Hurt Locker,” “Precious,” “Inglourious Basterds,” and “Up in the Air.”

“Up in the Air” is also a strong contender, with nominations in a total of five categories. Its main star, George Clooney, is up against Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, and Tobey Maguire for Best Actor in a drama. Having recently nabbed a People’s Choice Award for her role in “The Blind Side,” nominee Sandra Bullock is up for a Golden Globe as well for her role in the drama, alongside Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren and newcomers Carey Mulligan and Gabourey Sidibe.

“Gleeks” around the world been rejoicing that the FOX hit has scooped up three Golden Globe nominations. Lea Michele is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, and Jane Lynch is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Comedy or Musical. The show itself is also up for Best Television Show – Comedy or Musical.
