James Cameron’s “Avatar” held its number one spot at the box office for a fifth straight week, bringing in $55 million on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, according to EW.com.

The film’s grand domestic total is now $505 million, making it like it will beat the $600 million record set by “Titanic,” which was also directed by Cameron. “Avatar” may also surpass the global record, also set by “Titanic.” “Avatar” has banked $1.6 billion worldwide, according to Gossip Cop. “Titanic” holds the record with $1.8 billion.

Warner Brothers’ “Book of Eli” earned a strong total of $38 million during the past four days, while Peter Jackson’s “The Lovely Bones” made an estimated $20 million in its first week of wide-release.

Although “The Lovely Bones” was not in first place at the box office, tweeps were profoundly moved by the film:
