NBC Orders More Episodes To Fill “Leno” Void

In order to fill the programming void left by “The Jay Leno Show” mess, NBC has ordered more episodes of several series, including the dramas “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “Trauma,” Variety.com reports

As far as comedies go, NBC has given “Community” and “Parks and Recreation” additional episode orders. “The Office” and “30 Rock” were also picked up for more than their usual 22 episodes.

With “Leno” no longer airing at 10  p.m beginning in March, NBC had to scramble together a new schedule. But NBC’s loss is a gain for the other shows, especially “Trauma,” since it was only expected to run for six more episodes.

Tweeps offered their own ideas for NBC:

  1. Steve Wells
wellsonemc NBC needs 5 shows for 10 O’clock. Somebody call Letterman. #TeamConan
  2. Nightveil
Nightveil @Veronica And that failed miserably. What they need are shows that aren’t crime dramas in that slot What NBC needs is variety.
  3. SeanPace
SeanPace So NBC needs 5 new shows to fill the Leno 10pm time slot. I suppose it would be too much to ask for one nice grownup sci-fi show. Torchwood?
  4. Chad Bell
RevDJChadEsq My solution to #Leno problem: #Conan at 11:35 pm, #NBC develops Leno DAYTIME show to fill Oprah void. Jay gets more money. Affiliates cheer.
  5. Mitch Bartlett
mitch_bartlett NBC needs more shows to fill in for Leno moving. Does that mean Boomtown is coming back??? Please??? @donniewahlberg @skinsobrown
  6. well who are you?
patentti182 @lelasays tells much about nbc though, how stupid they are now they have to find many hrs of shows and tht costs much more than fring leno
  7. Derek M
dmann11 @itsDibby what shows do you love? because think of THIS. NBC has 5 hours of primetime to fill. cancelling shows means even MORE development

Leno will return as host of “The Tonight Show” in early March.
