Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” Released On DVD With Bonus Features

Although nobody will ever witness Michael Jackson pop, lock and turn on stage again, fans can at least eulogize the “King of Pop” by allowing him to spin forever in our DVD (or Blu-Ray) players.  “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” the documentary which features footage of Jackson’s last rehearsals and his then-unreleased song “This Is It,” was released on DVD and Blu-Ray this week and is supposedly loaded with extras, including additional behind-the-scenes footage, according to a review from The Washington Post.

Among the special features included on the discs is “Staging the Return,” a 40-minute documentary, which goes into detail about the stage props and gimmicks planned for various performance numbers for Jackson’s tour. “The Gloved One” is a featurette following costume designer Zaldy as he shows the audience the many flamboyant Swarovski crystal- encrusted suits designed for Jackson.

Viewers also have the option to watch several short films that were designed to run between musical numbers on the tour. And, of course, no memorial documentary would be complete without a tear-jerking onslaught of praise and adoration, which can be found in the feature “Memories of Michael.”

Many Twitter users can’t wait to get their hands on a copy of the DVD–if they haven’t already:

The film wasn’t submitted for Oscars consideration in the documentary category but could be a Best Picture contender when nominees are announced next week. Its popularity helped propel Michael Jackson to be one of the top Trending Topics of 2009 and his name will be likely appear on the list again this weekend, as Jackson is posthumously honored Sunday night at the Grammys. Check back with Breaking Tweets Entertainment that night for complete coverage.
