The Grammys presented a slideshow of all the musicians and music industry who passed away in the last year. Then English guitarist Jeff Beck and Irish vocalist Imelda May performed a tribute to guitarist Les Paul, who passed away in August 2009.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker collaborated with rappers Lil Wayne, Eminem and Drake in a four-person performance. The profanity in their songs caused CBS to have to censor significant portions of the performance, angering some tweeps.
